Miffy meets Yoyo (Nijntje op stap)

In cooperation with Mercis BV, Butterfly Works headed up a co-creation workshop in July with Venezuelan illustrators, creatives and early childhood development experts in Caracas. The starting point is Dick Bruna’s miffy. Miffy, the small bunny with heavy graphic lines in a bold colour pallet is popular all over the world and via her books a contributor to early childhood development.

Based on drawings of local children and Dick Bruna’s design legacy, the group of creatives worked for a week with the aim of developing a new children’s character; a Venezuelan miffy, to be used for the benefit of early childhood learning in Venezuela. They succeeded and the resulting character is called yoyo. You can see yoyo and the process here.

The next steps are now in progress to develop the story line and book for children with local publishers.
